Wow, it really has been a long time since I last posted here!
Well, since I haven’t done a show in awhile, I thought maybe I can post some stuff here
So it’s early Septembre 2006, and Simon went to pre-school for the first time yesterday. It went really well. Alot of the other kids were crying and having fits and Simon was fine. There were cars and toys to play with, so he just played with those until the teacher told them to sit down. I guess.
As a Stay at home Mom, I had mixed feelings about him going to school. First, I feel he is a bit young. He isn’t even 3 yet (but will be soon). Since his birthday is in Sept, he is in the class for him. I would have loved to waited another year, but then he would have missed a year of this school and then I would have been worried that he would be behind! oh, so many dilemas.
Another feeling I had was to be a fly on the wall. I have been so involved in everything he does, that I also wanted to know what he was doing and how he was reacting to it. I don’t want to interfere with his learning, but being away from him knowing that he was learning all sorts of stuff…. well…. I just wanted to see how he did. This is the part where we learn to let go….. I guess! I also like to have conversations with him about what he does all day, so this is a bit tough, since I don’t know the nursery rhymes they are learning!
He is the youngest in his class, so of course I worry about that. Some kids will be turning 4 in Octobre, so there is really a big gap between him and them, in terms of language and stuff…. but overall, I am sure he will do fine.
If you would like to see some photos of him, check out my Flikr page.
As for not having done a show in awhile…. again, mixed feelings about that too.
First off – I am having trouble finding good content, some stuff here and there, but nothing that is making me jump on!
Time is tough, Simon has been getting to bed too late – 8:30 to 9:ish, so by the time I have decompressed a bit, then its late and I am too tired to get a show out. There are times to when Bob gives me the impression he doesn’t feel up to it either. He spends his days in the office/Studio, so to be in it at night too is tough! I understand, and feel bad if I ask him to do a show.
I often feel bad when I ask Bob to do a show, and then its tough to do a show, when we are not perfectly in sync. Since this is a couple cast, if ever we have a disagreement or something (don’t need to go into that here!) then doing a show is totally out of the question.
So the trouble is finding time and the two of us being “up” about it! Does that make any sense?
Well, that is about it for now – back to watching Sesame Street
Let me know what you think of this post – or if anyone is out there reading this.
Thanks
Cat
Don’t worry about it, Cat. I miss hearing your show, but we’ll all still be here when you come back. Maybe you and Bob can find another time that works better for you, even if means shorter or less frequent shows. Go out for coffee in the mornings like Mark and Andrea!

I was always the youngest one in my class too. The oldest one was almost a whole year older than me. Don’t worry, it doesn’t make much of a difference.

Thanks Nico,
I guess this is the most obvious time where a year can make a big difference!
But he is just getting smarter and smarter everyday.
Thanks Jim, that helps!

Hi Cat,
My brother’s birthday is November and Andy’s is Halloween so they were always the youngest in their classes and they recall positive experiences.
We registered our little guy in a mommy/daddy and me montessori class that meets one morning a week. His first day was this past Tues. and he loved it. En route to school I asked him what he was going to say to his teacher. His response, “Good Morning Ms Zahra. I’m ready to go!” And he truly was
I for one would love to hear you talk about your experiences as you go through your first year of being a pre-schooler’s mom! Some catnips maybe? … whenever the feeling moves you…
